So, first of all, if I was directing Fiddler I would absolutely cast you as Tevye. You already have the vibe and I can totally see you singing “If I was a Rich Man”. Second, speaking of my people, I will totally take Yom Kippur over Lent any day! Come on - one day, no sins, let’s party!!! Enjoyed the article, as I always do! 😘

Interesting article, I learned something new today. One thing I am conflicted about though, whether I should name my new band "Butt Dust" or "Titties and Beer"...

I generally tell people that I give up Lent for Lent. It confuses them and keeps them from asking any further questions.

Thank you for another enlightening article.

Ah. Forgiveness Vespers. Beautiful in theory but hugely difficult in practice. Not because of my anthropophobia, well, some of that. It was the mind-boggling display of hypocrisy as the inner circle and outer circle rotated in contrary motion, meaning EVERYBODY met EVERYBODY ELSE and watching the faces of the people who made parish life hell and had no intention of forgiving or asking forgiveness but who did not manage to escape from the nave in time. Also, surprise surprise, it was always the least-attended ritual of the church.

Didn’t the Grateful Dead write a song about the Western Practices of Lent? 🎶Ashes ashes all fall down…🎶….maybe I’m misinterpreting that…

As the Orthodox response is, "God forgives". I too ask your forgiveness if I have offended you in any way through word, thought or action... don't think I have but just wanted to cover all the bases! Happy and fruitful Lent to you... doesn't matter if it is Orthodox or not. Can't wait for the Resurrection celebrations! Yeah!
