Thank you for a touching tribute. I hope you share it with her. She and her family deserve to see that there are people on her side.
As for the Neanderthals and their untoward question posed to you during your tour... wow! Just wow! I can't imagine caring that much about someone else's intimate relations to ask! People need to mind their own biz and good for you not acknowledging them.
What a moving testimony to a dear friend! We should all be so fortunate to have at least one friend stand up for us when needed! I pray that her testimony in court is enough to convict him!
Wonderfully done, as always. Praying that the Rev. Dr. MLK Jr. was correct when he said, "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice." You can NEVER go wrong standing up for love and friendship.
I was in awe after I watched that documentary. That woman's a Valkyrie.💖 We all owe her a tremendous debt. She's an amazing person. I hope that enough people know her story now to keep her safe.
This is brilliant and I thank you for it. As cynical and jaded as I have become with the years I still do not understand the pathological human "need" to dehumanize another human being. I was thrilled when you mentioned Rahab since my own thoughts have dwelt a lot on the women named in the genealogy of Christ and elsewhere in scripture. Their inclusion in what would normally be a who's who of exclusively men speaks volumes to me about the heart of the God I believe in and how He views women and their rightful role in His story, our story. Rahab was a bad-ass and Stormy is a bad-ass. I raised bad-ass daughters and sons who respect them and others like them and they are raising bad-ass daughter and good men. Thank you for your part in the story and thank Stormy from us next time you converse.
What a beautiful love letter to your friend. Thank you for sharing. Like Lily, I'm in the UK (Scotland, actually) and we have the same nonsense happening.
Thank you for the reminder that no matter where we sit on the political spectrum, we've all got to do better in how we treat and speak of others.
I'm sat here, house sitting, on the other side of the Atlantic, in a country that seems determined to destroy itself and sadly follow where the "you've been tango'd" man goes. Like yourselves we have a general election this year, sprung on us only last week, and already it is full of nastiness and belittling. Women being treated like an after thought. People, the Prime Minister, other MP's forgetting what has happened to those women brave enough to stand up for what they think is right despite being abused, ridiculed, or even in the case of Jo Cox MP murdered by a far-right neo-N thug. Some, many infact, thought she deserved it, as she stood against all they were and continue to be.
Reading this essay, that is a touching tribute to Stormy, confirms what we have said for a while in my home and with my friends; that she is doing an incredible act of honesty and good, that will, if it works, help not just your nation but those like ours. Where it is still ok to stand up and say no to this rhetoric against humans being mistreated. Where it is time the media were not allowed to to be so one sided and had instead the requirement to print only true verified facts. Where destroying someones character just so a fascist can win, is no longer accepted.
It has been an interesting and enlightening read of your friendship with a woman who is so much more than the sum of her [sex work] parts. When this is all done and (hopefully) the world rightens, I hope that she looks back and sees the number of us, all across the world, who are grateful for her bravery in doing this.
Well said, my friend. I appreciate you and all of your pure unadulterated humanity. It astounds me that people asked this.
(Meanwhile, the people who they'd never consider questioning about their former lovers are the ones who often have the far more interesting stories. Go figure.)
It is curious how fame/infamy warps the space between people. If we simply cut through the garbage constantly bombarding us and drop expectations and ignore the spin around them, we would observe brilliantly shining human beings who are making the world a better place just by being here.

I sent this to her immediately

Thank you for stripping away the the perceived person and showing us who Stormy really is. She's a badass woman. The world needs more like her.

As always, remarkable work. Yours, and Stormy’s. Thank you. Both of you!

A beautiful and loving story. Thank you
You are a true friend.
What a beautiful piece, a love letter to your friend. Thank you for fleshing her out (so to speak) for me. I admire her even more now.

THANK YOU, STORMY! Hallelujah.
Welp… now I’m crying.
This is such a beautiful piece of writing and speaks truth so clearly. Thank you.
As if I wasn’t bonkers excited to see you both in person already, I’m now bouncing off the walls.
