I have some sad news that, I hope, has now been turned into something beautiful: art.
Sometimes when you do a thing you have no idea what it will become. That was the case for me with this broom. Years ago, when I took a silly little selfie with my front porch broom, I could have never imagined all the places it would eventually take me.
I also couldn’t have imagined how much power this broom would have or what it mean for so many people. What started as a numerous way to let everyone know, “hey, I see there is a problem in the commands and I’m here to clean house” became something bigger.
Had I know at the time what all of this would become, I would have done things differently. I would have attempted to do something to preserve the original broom. Instead, it continued to live on my porch as a functional house cleaning devise.
During a recent break from travels, I got to spend a few days as my house and I looked at this broom that has given us all so much. It is very worn, frayed, and beyond repair. If it was just any old broom, it would be time for disposal. But I just couldn’t bring myself to get rid of it. It seems to hold so many stories within these tattered strands of straw.
I began to wonder what I could do with this that would be an appropriate goodbye to something that has meant so much to so many.
Then I thought about some more and realized that I should do what I always do: turn something broken into beautiful jewelry.
I have spent the last few weeks working on how to be preserve the memory of the original Broom of Doom and I think y’all will love it as much as I do. So, it is with a happy heart that I present to y’all with: The Relic of the Broom of Doom, a small glass vial containing a fragment of the bristles from the original broom. This way everyone can have their very own memento.
These will only be available for a limited time and there are only a few left so get it while you can here: charityinstitute.com//product-page/the-relic-of-the-broom-of-doom
The return of Unholy Sh+t
I don’t think I fully anticipated how much time and energy the Broom of Doom tour was going to take. I’m hindsight, I should have written ahead on this series before I hit the road. I’ve had a few days off before I hit the west coast and so be ready for their return soon!
Hey, I see that you have a couple of "empty days" after Los Altos before you hit SoCal. Why not come to S.F. or the (mysterious) East Bay?
